PLC Touch Screen: User Friendly High Pressure Homogenizer

Image
Genizer’s high pressure homogenizers are known for being user-friendly. Part of the interface of Genizer’s devices is a high tech PLC touch screen, giving the user full control over all aspects of precision and automation.   The PLC touch screen has several functions. Firstly, speed and pressure are displayed during the entire homogenization process. This allows you to see in real time what forces of pressure (measured in PSI) are homogenizing the most effectively. Secondly, the screen has start and stop features allowing you to change when homogenization begins or ends.  There are several more precise settings that can be adjusted at anytime by the user. For instance, the “customer setup” settings are important in effectively homogenizing a sample. Settings such as volume of sample, number of passes through the homogenizer, specific volume of each stroke, and amount of time are all customizable factors that are based on the user’s  application...

What is 316L Stainless Steel?

Image
If you’ve spent time on Genizer’s website , you may have noticed that we list 316L stainless steel in our product materials. However, what does this mean, and why is it important? Stainless Steel Stainless steel is comprised of a mix of iron and chromium. The chromium and iron react to form an oxide layer, which makes it more resistant to corrosion and heat. This oxide layer also prevents pitting in the metal. A smooth, pit-less surface is important for a sanitary application because bacteria can grow on a bumpy surface, and that smoothness makes it easy to sanitize. Since stainless steel is more cleanable than other materials, you may associate it with a commercial kitchen or surgical center. 316L Grade A commonly used grade of stainless steel is 304, however this grade is less resistant than 316 grade to chlorides and acids. This is because 316 grade stainless steel contains molybdenum, while 304 does not. The “L” in 316 L indicates that this stainless steel has lower carbon c...

Choosing a Homogenizer When it comes to creating liquid formulations, achieving a uniform dispersion of active ingredients is essential for the product's effectiveness and stability. Homogenization is a widely used technique to accomplish this, and choosing the right homogenizer is crucial to achieve the desired results. In this article, we'll explore the factors to consider when choosing the right homogenizer for your liquid formulations.   Product Characteristics The first step is to consider the characteristics of your product, including its viscosity, particle size, and required pressure. The viscosity of your product will determine the necessary force required for homogenization. The higher the viscosity, the more pressure you'll need to break down the particles. Particle size is also critical since smaller particles require higher pressure to break them down. Finally, the required pressure will depend on the properties of the product you're working with. Some prod...

The NanoGenizer | A High-Pressure Homogenizer for Laboratory Settings The NanoGenizer is the most popular unit from Genizer.  This high-pressure homogenizer is perfect for laboratory settings because of its compact and energy efficient design.   The NanoGenizer is simple to use. It plugs into the wall and has a convenient touch screen with an auto-stop function.  The body of the NanoGenizer  serves as the engine to po wer the ceramic piston. The sample travels in through the inlet valve and out the outlet valve into the diamond interaction chamber (DIXC). The DIXC can be ei ther Y-shaped or Z-shaped. In the Y-shaped interaction chamber, the  sample separates  into two st reams.   The streams turn at a 90 °  angle and collide with each other. Where the two streams collide, forces like high shear and cavit ation homogenize the sample. While in the Y-shaped intera ction chamber the sample collides with itse lf, in the Z-shaped chamb...

5 Advantages of High-Pressure Homogenization for Cell Disruption Powerful High-pressure homogenization can be used to break apart stubborn cells more quickly, for instance by  reducing the number of passes required to disrupt the cells.  Link Scalable With high-pressure homogenization, you can scale from the R&D lab scale all the way up to a manufacturing  setup. Non-Chemical With the use of high-pressure homogenization, you can avoid the use of chemicals that may compromise your desired result from cell disruption. Thermally Managed The cooling available in a high-pressure homogenization is vital to efforts that require protein stability or are  otherwise thermosensitive. See this study for one example:  Link Multifunctional A high-pressure homogenization is not a single function instrument. In fact, it can be used for a variety of purposes. For example, making nanoparticles, nano emulsions, or re-sizing liposomes. To learn more about high-pressure ...

3 Questions to Choose a Liposome Extruder   3 Questions to Ask While Looking for a Liposome Extrusion Option   There are three questions to ask when you are choosing a liposome extrusion option. First, what pore size do you need? While a solo homogenizer reaches a liposome size of 20-30nm, any option with extrusion allows for more choice. Second, what power types do you have access to? The jacketed liposome extruders allow for gas power. An electric option is available if you go for a high-pressure homogenizer with or without an extruder. And manual options are available in the HandExtruder and HandGenizer.     Third, what scale of sample do you need to process? Genizer makes extrusion options from 1 mL to manufacturing scale. There are advantages coming from the various options as well to help you make your choice! R each out at  la@genizer.com  for more information.
